The technical specifications of our basalt lined pipes are optimized for high-volume slurry transport. We offer standard lining thicknesses of 20mm, 25mm, and 30mm, which are bonded to the outer steel pipe (typically Q235B or Q345B) using a specialized acid-resistant cement mortar. The outer steel pipe is manufactured to meet GB/T, ASTM, or DIN standards. Because basalt is a cast material, we can produce internal diameters from DN100 up to DN800. For larger diameters, we utilize basalt tiles rather than cast cylinders. A key specification of our basalt is its low water absorption (≤0.1%), which prevents internal corrosion of the pipe system. We also control the cooling rate during the annealing phase to ensure a fine-grained crystalline structure, which is critical for maximizing impact resistance. Every pipe is pressure tested to ensure the integrity of the composite structure, and we provide detailed dimensional inspections to ensure easy flange-to-flange alignment on your site. Our basalt liners are also naturally resistant to most acids and alkalis, providing a dual-layered protection system for chemically aggressive slurries.
Industrial Applications
Basalt lined pipes are the preferred choice for Ash Handling Systems in coal-fired power plants, where they transport bottom ash and fly ash slurries over long distances. Their smooth bore is also ideal for the Mining Industry, specifically for iron ore concentrates, copper tailings, and hydraulic backfilling. In Steel Mills, basalt pipes are used for blast furnace granulated slag transport and dust collection lines. The Cement Industry utilizes basalt lining for the pneumatic conveying of limestone and raw meal. Additionally, Coal Washeries use these pipes for heavy medium separation lines and refuse disposal. Because basalt is chemically inert, it is also suitable for Chemical Wastewater lines that carry abrasive grit. Its ability to maintain a low friction coefficient makes it particularly valuable for Long-Distance Pipelines where pumping energy represents a significant portion of operating costs. While not suitable for high-impact environments (where our ZTA or SiC pipes are better), basalt excels in any application involving high-volume, low-to-medium impact sliding abrasion.
Manufacturing Advantages
- Superior Sliding Wear Resistance: Outperforms almost all metallic liners in constant-flow slurry applications.
- Self-Polishing Effect: The internal surface becomes smoother with use, reducing flow resistance and energy consumption.
- Corrosion Resistance: Naturally resistant to nearly all industrial acids and alkalis, ensuring long-term structural integrity.
- Cost-Effective Longevity: Provides a lifespan 5-10 times longer than steel at a fraction of the cost of advanced ceramics.
- Low Friction Coefficient: Minimizes the risk of blockages and allows for higher flow velocities in conveying systems.
- Eco-Friendly Material: Derived from natural volcanic rock, basalt is a sustainable choice for industrial wear protection.
