Abrasion Resistant Basalt Lined Pipe

-- Steady & Reliable Manufacturer --

Introduction

Jiangsu Jianghe is a premier manufacturer of abrasion-resistant basalt lined pipes, a specialized solution for industries requiring extreme durability against sliding abrasion. Cast basalt is a natural volcanic rock that is melted at high temperatures and then centrifugally cast or molded into liners. As a factory with decades of experience, we have perfected the annealing process of basalt, which transforms it into a crystalline material with a hardness of 8 on the Mohs scale. Basalt lined pipes are particularly effective in hydraulic conveying systems where the material flow is constant and moderately abrasive. Our basalt liners are known for their exceptionally smooth internal surface, which actually becomes more polished as material flows through it, further reducing friction and energy costs over time. We understand that for many global buyers, basalt represents a more economical alternative to high-tech ceramics while still providing significantly better performance than manganese steel. Our factory produces basalt lined straight pipes, elbows, and fittings, all encased in a protective steel shell. We focus on the precision of the lining thickness and the quality of the cement mortar used to bond the basalt to the steel, ensuring a monolithic structure that can withstand the rigors of heavy industrial use. By choosing Jiangsu Jianghe’s basalt solutions, you are investing in a time-tested, reliable wear protection system that has been the standard in European and Asian power plants for decades.

Technical Specifications

Lining MaterialCast Basalt (Volcanic Rock)
Hardness (Mohs)≥ 8
Density2.9 - 3.0 g/cm³
Compressive Strength≥ 600 MPa
Maximum Temperature350°C
Lining Thickness20mm to 30mm (Standard)

The technical specifications of our basalt lined pipes are optimized for high-volume slurry transport. We offer standard lining thicknesses of 20mm, 25mm, and 30mm, which are bonded to the outer steel pipe (typically Q235B or Q345B) using a specialized acid-resistant cement mortar. The outer steel pipe is manufactured to meet GB/T, ASTM, or DIN standards. Because basalt is a cast material, we can produce internal diameters from DN100 up to DN800. For larger diameters, we utilize basalt tiles rather than cast cylinders. A key specification of our basalt is its low water absorption (≤0.1%), which prevents internal corrosion of the pipe system. We also control the cooling rate during the annealing phase to ensure a fine-grained crystalline structure, which is critical for maximizing impact resistance. Every pipe is pressure tested to ensure the integrity of the composite structure, and we provide detailed dimensional inspections to ensure easy flange-to-flange alignment on your site. Our basalt liners are also naturally resistant to most acids and alkalis, providing a dual-layered protection system for chemically aggressive slurries.

Industrial Applications

Basalt lined pipes are the preferred choice for Ash Handling Systems in coal-fired power plants, where they transport bottom ash and fly ash slurries over long distances. Their smooth bore is also ideal for the Mining Industry, specifically for iron ore concentrates, copper tailings, and hydraulic backfilling. In Steel Mills, basalt pipes are used for blast furnace granulated slag transport and dust collection lines. The Cement Industry utilizes basalt lining for the pneumatic conveying of limestone and raw meal. Additionally, Coal Washeries use these pipes for heavy medium separation lines and refuse disposal. Because basalt is chemically inert, it is also suitable for Chemical Wastewater lines that carry abrasive grit. Its ability to maintain a low friction coefficient makes it particularly valuable for Long-Distance Pipelines where pumping energy represents a significant portion of operating costs. While not suitable for high-impact environments (where our ZTA or SiC pipes are better), basalt excels in any application involving high-volume, low-to-medium impact sliding abrasion.

Manufacturing Advantages

  • Superior Sliding Wear Resistance: Outperforms almost all metallic liners in constant-flow slurry applications.
  • Self-Polishing Effect: The internal surface becomes smoother with use, reducing flow resistance and energy consumption.
  • Corrosion Resistance: Naturally resistant to nearly all industrial acids and alkalis, ensuring long-term structural integrity.
  • Cost-Effective Longevity: Provides a lifespan 5-10 times longer than steel at a fraction of the cost of advanced ceramics.
  • Low Friction Coefficient: Minimizes the risk of blockages and allows for higher flow velocities in conveying systems.
  • Eco-Friendly Material: Derived from natural volcanic rock, basalt is a sustainable choice for industrial wear protection.
